The first time I tasted saltwater, it wasn’t the ocean. It was sweat, stinging my eyes as I wrestled a three-pounder from the Biscayne Bay muck. I was twelve, sun-baked and skinny as a mullet, but that bass felt like a goddamn marlin. That’s Miami for you, man – adrenaline in every drop of tide, bass lurking in every shadow, glory waiting just a cast away.
Thirty years later, I’m still here, my hands calloused testaments to countless battles. Miami’s water runs through my veins, the rhythm of the bass my heartbeat. I’ve chased these green ghosts across the state, from the mangroves of the Keys to the cypress knees of the ‘Glades. Hell, I even tangoed with the big boys at the Miami Bass Masters Classic, came home with a trophy that still gleams in the Florida sun.
